Manchester Arena inquiry: LIVE updates as senior transport officers give evidence

Further evidence from senior British Transport Police officers was being heard today at the ongoing public inquiry into the 2017 Manchester Arena terror attack.The inquiry is currently hearing evidence from those responsible for command and control of the emergency services response on the night.Chief Superintendent Allan Gregory, from British Transport Police, was resuming his evidence today.The inquiry is also expected to hear evidence from BTP Chief Officer Robin Smith, who was Assistant Chief Constable at the time.Suicide bomber Salman Abedi, 22, detonated a rucksack bomb at the end of an Ariana Grande concert on May 22, 2017, killing 22 people and injuring hundreds more.Sign up to the free MEN email newsletterHis younger brother Hashem Abedi, now 23, was convicted of 22 counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of conspiracy to cause an explosion following a trial in March last year.He was jailed for a minimum of 55 years in August last year.The inquiry is investigating the circumstances that led to the 22 people being killed in the blast.The Manchester Evening News will be providing live updates below.
