The 70-plate cars being offer with up to 40% off as dealers struggle to shift new cars

September is usually a strong month for the new car market as buyers look to grab a new car at plate-change time but this year was a disaster for car dealers, with new registrations slumping to a 10-year low. Registrations were down 4.4 per cent in September, following a 5.8 per cent drop in August. Just 328,000 new cars were registered in the UK – nearly 16 per cent lower than the average for September over the last 10 years.
